1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those who want a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin after it has filled up.
Both robots are adept at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After connecting we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households, but it also fits in well next to a coffee table or on a bookshelf where you can wave it around like an enchanted wand.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.
This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments as well as an Wand. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area several times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top selections, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently runs out of battery power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer components that require regular maintenance It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips that can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of features for automation.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to learn and use as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a deterrent for some buyers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible via the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as an incline. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
